Auburn is a Sydney suburb at the forefront of change. With the rise of multiculturalism and the opening of the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque, the once predominantly Christian area has become mainly Muslim, populated by immigrants from Afghan, Lebanese, Turkish and Chinese backgrounds. The statue of the Aboriginal warrior was a popular model sold in the 1960s. and was given the name “Kevin”.
